Arbor Green Apartments in Carson Combines Affordability With Net Zero Energy Usage
This VIP event, attended by the Mayor of Carson and other local dignitaries, brings much needed affordable housing to the city. Arbor Green Apartments are anticipated to achieve much coveted LEED Platinum certification. Affirmed Housing Group partnered with the City to both develop and manage this unique community, which will serve households earning between 30 to 60% of Los Angeles County’s AMI. 40 apartment homes with 1-, 2- and 3-bedrooms are offered with amenities that include private balconies, covered parking, community room, computer lab, laundry room, tot lot and barbeque area. Residents also benefit from life skills training, homework assistance and cooking classes provided by the Arbor Green staff. Due to the property’s innovative energy-efficient design, residents will pay only $1 to $3 per month for utilities. Nearly 100% of the building’s energy usage is offset through solar water heating systems and rooftop photovoltaic panels, while drought tolerant landscaping conserves 47% more water. Energy Star appliances and 100% high efficacy lighting are featured throughout the community. The Fuscoe team provided a wide range of professional services, from construction staking, ALTA and topographic surveys to full civil engineering site plans and water quality reports, including a SWPPP, SUSMP and a hydrology plan utilizing bio-retention planters and pervious pavers to treat storm water runoff.
