Breaking New Ground For The Homeless

Vermont Villas, a unique endeavor by Affirmed Housing, recently held a groundbreaking. This contemporary building is being developed by both public and private institutions with the goal of ending homelessness by providing permanent, supportive housing. 50 of the units have been set aside for Veteran seniors and 28 for seniors who qualify under the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services programs. This low income, at-risk population, earning just 20% to 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI), will also enjoy substantial resident services, courtesy of PATH Ventures, including mentoring by housing preservation counselors. Vermont Villas will consist of 69 one-bedroom and nine studio apartments within three stories of wood construction on a concrete podium deck. The three residential stories, with laundry facilities on each level, will top one level of at-grade parking, manager’s apartment, resident case management services, a common kitchen, tech stations, exterior community courtyard and interior common space set aside for fitness, gathering and education.
