Creating a Vibrant New Neighborhood In Santa Monica’s Civic Center District
Santa Monica’s goal to revitalize and transform its Civic Center core into a walkable, green and life-sustaining community has finally been achieved! Recently, City Hall was brilliantly enhanced with the unique 6-acre Tongva Park and Ken Genser Square and now, the remaining “vacant lot” has been replaced with the ultimate impressive piece: The Village at Santa Monica, Related California’s $350M mixed-use development. Totaling one million square feet, The Village’s three LEED-certified residential communities are re-energizing the area with diverse housing options and architectural innovations, such as a 5th floor Skybridge Lounge linking two buildings at The Waverly; a rooftop pool deck with 360° panoramic views at The Seychelle; and a pedestrian “Living Street” fronted by live/work artists’ studios at The Belmar Apartments.

Fuscoe Engineering proudly contributed its full circle thinking® services to all of the new Civic Center area components. The team solved many challenging design issues, including surgically matching the varied edge conditions, preserving a historic brick storm channel that traverses the site and developing a sustainable urban street solution with a unique paver and water quality system.
Fuscoe takes pride in embracing full circle thinking® in shaping places people enjoy through creative designs with heroic service. full circle thinking® is an underlying approach and fundamental series of truths that guide how the firm operates, who is hired and the way each project is approached.
