Victory Park at Tustin Legacy’s Grand Opening is a Big Success

The excitement was amplified at the Victory Park at Tustin Legacy’s Grand Opening Celebration! On August 25th, hundreds of adults and children attended the celebration, which featured a military color guard, speeches, ribbon cutting, raffles, contests and refreshments, with lots of children playing on the huge playground apparatus.

The 4.7-acre Victory Park is located on the former MCAS Tustin and offers unique amenities that reflect two themes: children and the area’s military history. Anchored by a large control tower play element and WWII Quonset-style hut, the park includes a commemorative plaque honoring the armed forces, military-themed playground equipment, small amphitheater with pathways simulating the aviation base runways, tree grove and picnic/seating/barbecue areas. An archway leads to an interpretive garden area with six separate art panels displaying the history of the air base and its iconic hangars. A special park highlight is an “observation hill” with a bridge that connects to top-of-the-line, multi-level playground equipment, almost all of which is fully ADA accessible.
