Project Description

Orange County Great Park

Fuscoe played a significant role in the feasibility and concept design of the highly regarded Orange County Great Park. The Great Park, formerly El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, aspires to become one of America’s most prestigious urban parks. In addition to expansive lawns, groves and meadows, the 1,347-acre Great Park will offer amenities such as a 3.5-mile wildlife corridor; two-mile long canyon with hiking, riding and biking trails; 21-acre lake; amphitheater; botanical garden; and extensive sports fields. In July 2011 the Park’s Palm Court Arts Complex, dedicated to art and historical exhibitions, opened to public acclaim.

Fuscoe’s design role in the planning included restoration design of riparian and wildlife corridors and habitat wetlands to minimize flood control and water quality impacts. Fuscoe also has been the core consultant for new and salvaged infrastructure design, cost proformas, EIR and zoning documents, and technical graphics for clearances by multiple agencies. Fuscoe’s surveying team provided a variety of services, including aerial and supplemental topographic surveys; boundary and ALTA surveys; right-of-way and legal descriptions; landscape setbacks; parcel and interim use exhibits; 3D interactive GIS models and video animations; and full data management. For enhanced productivity and efficiency, the Fuscoe staff utilized ProjectSpace web-based software to streamline project management, team collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
