Project Description

Santiago Canyon College

This attractive 52-acre junior college campus opened its doors to students in August of 1985, and currently has an enrollment of over 10,000. The college offers a full spectrum of general education courses, as well as several distinct vocational programs, preparing students for transfer to baccalaureate-granting institutions as well as for employment.

Fuscoe Engineering provided comprehensive civil engineering services for two new key buildings on the college campus; a Student Services Building and a Library / Learning Resources Center. These two-story structures, designed by the architectural team at LPA, Inc., presented a number of engineering challenges. Incorporating the new building additions into the tight confines of the existing campus required special handling. Additionally, there were complicated ADA access ramping and retaining wall issues that needed particular consideration. Services offered included preliminary and final engineering plans, grading plans, and sewer, water, utilities and storm drain plans. Project coordination involved gaining approval of the DSA (Division of State Architects).
