Sports Arena Retail Center
The Sports Arena Retail Center project entails extensive site rehabilitation, including tenant improvements of existing Target and Ralph’s retail outlets and construction of a new Dick’s Sporting Goods building. The project site was subject to priority stormwater requirements by the City and detailed designs were required to retrofit the site with stormwater BMPs to meet current regulations. As a multi-phase project with multiple LRPs (legally responsible parties), creating a SWPPP to meet State stormwater regulations was a challenge. Project drainage improvements included new storm drain and stormwater BMPs, while utility improvements included water service, a new underground fire service loop and sewer laterals. The project’s parking lot required reconfiguration, including pavement replacements; new curb, gutter and sidewalks; curb ramps; ADA improvements; and asphalt overlay. Matching existing grade and horizontal constraints throughout the site proved challenging. In addition to civil design, the Fuscoe team provided construction staking and supplemental topography and is coordinating their efforts with the City of San Diego and various consultants, including McCullough Landscape Architecture and Zeibarth Associates for planning and architecture.
