Project Description

Sterling Collwood Apartments

Located on a 6.8-acre redevelopment site near San Diego State University, the Sterling Collwood Apartments consist of 260 units within five, three-to-seven story buildings. This project is a high density infill mixed-use project developed to target the housing needs of the SDSU student population. The site is sandwiched between existing single-family houses and a multi-family site and is on the SDSU shuttle bus route. As a LEED Gold certified project, Sterling Collwood is also a green housing option, providing optimal indoor air quality while helping to sustain the local environment. Challenges associated with this project included 45 ft. high soil nail walls, implementation of storm water pollution control measures in a high density environment, and finding creative solutions to fit large water meter/backflow facilities within constrained frontage.
