Project Description

Steve Ambriz Sports Park

Steve Ambriz Sports Park is part of a 74-acre residential master planned community skirting the Santa Ana River. The 10.5-acre sports park features two slow-pitch softball fields, lighted basketball and tennis courts, two soccer field overlays, tot lot, playground, community building, bicycle trail and walking/jogging path. Seven acres of open space with bicycle and pedestrian trails, footbridge and bioswale buffer the neighborhood from the River and an adjacent parcel that remains for sand and gravel operations.

The Fuscoe team performed a full complement of civil engineering, construction staking and mapping services. Street improvement plans were particularly complex and included adding turn lanes and/or through lanes at the busy intersections of Lincoln Avenue/Glassell Street, Lincoln/Tustin Avenue, Lincoln/Sunkist Street and Kraemer Boulevard/La Palma Avenue. The team identified stormwater and urban runoff issues and integrated state-of-the-art natural water quality mitigation solutions into the site plan. The development now drains stormwater into a new 71,400 s.f. water quality detention basin and bio-reactive treatment system with vegetated swales positioned between the project and the River, ensuring that runoff is processed and filtered before discharge.
