Fuscoe’s services included entitlement technical support, final mapping and civil site final engineering design. The project-related civil tasks included adjacent off-site street/sidewalk improvements and on-site mass excavation, precise grading/drainage and wet utility facilities. Rather than utilizing a costly off-site storm drain facility, a series of dry well features were placed below the subterranean parking structure. Due to the site’s unique grading condition and limited storm drain infrastructure, the design employs a drain lift station facility which allows immediate drainage effluent disposal. Because of the site location and adjacent uses (metro rail station facility and community theatre), community dialogue prompted the incorporation of creative public pedestrian corridors and walkway routing solutions with way-finding strategies through the site that also preserve resident safety.
