Project Description

UCSB Ocean Walk at North Campus – Faculty Housing

Due to UCSB’s overall Strategic Plan and Housing Initiatives, housing for students and faculty is expanding to meet the demand projected over the next five years. Phases 1 and 2 of the Ocean Walk at North Campus faculty housing project included 22 and 37 single-family homes respectively; Phase 3 is in progress.

When fully built out, the project will include a clubhouse, swimming pool, barbecues, tot lots and walking trails. It is currently anticipated that many of these amenities will be constructed in the third phase of the project. The property includes a significant amount of open space; approximately 10 acres of the 26-acre site will be maintained as wetlands, grasslands and buffers. In addition, 652 acres of coastal bluffs adjacent to the property have been set aside as perpetual open space by the University, Santa Barbara County and the City of Goleta.

Fuscoe Engineering is providing professional engineering design services for the preliminary and construction document phases of this project, including precise grading/drainage, retaining wall erosion control and water quality compliance. This flat undeveloped land is comprised of several plant species and wetland habitats, so care and caution is being taken to protect and/or relocate these environmentally-sensitive elements consistent with California Coastal Commission regulations and in accordance with the University’s commitment to environmental preservation. Phases 1 and 2 have achieved LEED® For Homes Certification.
