Project Description

Newport Beach Country Club – Clubhouse

Melzer Deckert & Ruder Architects, Inc. designed and produced construction documents for this $44M state-of-the-art clubhouse on a portion of the Newport Beach Country Club grounds. The two-story Craftsman-style project included improvements to the adjacent parking lot and to the Club maintenance facility. With a goal of attracting younger professionals with families, the new 56,000 sf clubhouse with 9,000 sf basement features enhanced food and beverage venues, a 2,500 sf fitness facility, resort-style six-land competition pool with sundeck and cabanas and children’s pool, indoor/outdoor areas, fireplaces, fire pits, and expansive ocean and coastline views. Other amenities include a banquet room, board room, 4,000 sf ballroom with 17 ft. high ceilings, golf shop, three massage/treatment rooms and locker rooms. The enhanced amenities together with spectacular 180° views of both the ocean and the lush championship golf course serve the Newport Beach Country Club well as host to the world-class Toshiba Classic Tournament of the Senior Professional Tour.

The Fuscoe team rendered a considerable array of services for this project, including comprehensive engineering, surveying and stormwater management tasks, including a SWPPP, WQMP and Hydrology Study. Challenges for the team included devising a strategy for continued operation of this very active country club during construction. Significant effort centered around production of a temporary clubhouse, pro shop, kitchen and dining facilities.
