Safe Landing is a collaborative effort between Los Angeles County’s Housing for Health division and Exodus Recovery, designed to address the urgent need for supportive housing in South Los Angeles. While our team has delivered hundreds of projects across the region, partnering with trusted collaborator KFA Architecture to transform a long-vacant lot into a purpose-driven facility was a particularly meaningful opportunity. The collective efforts of the entire team have brought much-needed transitional housing to the area and vital services, like detox and mental health support, for those on the path to recovery.

Technical Excellence
Our team’s technical expertise was key in overcoming the site’s unique challenges. To address subsurface existing conditions identified in a soils study, the cross-disciplinary team successfully collaborated to design 40-foot-long I-beam piles that ensure structural integrity across the site. Additionally, a specialized Fox drain system was designed for the dog park – a unique amenity for a facility of this kind. This solution allows for two separate discharges—stormwater and wastewater—and ensures both are managed and treated properly. Every decision was made with long-term sustainability and the project’s mission in mind.
