Fuscoe’s full circle thinking® process enhanced the parks below, each featuring unique recreational elements for people to enjoy.

ANAHEIM COVES RECREATIONAL AREA
Anaheim, CA | MIG, Inc. for City of Anaheim

Fuscoe assisted MIG in preparing a master plan and construction documents for Anaheim Coves Northern Extension, a 1.1-mile long and 35 to 55-foot-wide multi-purpose trail and recreational area on 5.9 acres along the Santa Ana River. The project created additional recreational and commuter opportunities and connects bicycle commuters and pedestrians to the Anaheim Canyon business district, a major employment center with over 2,600 businesses employing 55,000+ people. The project scope included porous asphalt paving, two-way striping, bike rack, distance markers, benches, trash receptacles, drinking fountain, recycle containers, pet waste dispensers, appropriate safety signage, two-cable guardrail at Carbon Canyon Channel.

MANZANITA SKATE PARK
Anaheim, CA | City of Anaheim

The City of Anaheim recently opened its newest and largest skate park at Manzanita Park. This 12,000-sf addition, designed by Spohn Ranch, features a 7-ft deep bowl for experienced skaters, a 3-ft deep beginner bowl, a skate plaza and grind ledges, rails and ramps. The project also included much needed landscape improvements and a new parking lot. Fuscoe provided comprehensive civil engineering and water quality (WQMP/SWPPP) design, construction documents, plan checking, bid assistance, construction administration and as-builts. With no storm drains nearby, a pump was implemented along with shallow infiltration design.

JONNY D. WALLIS NEIGHBORHOOD PARK
Goleta, CA | Van Atta Associates for the City of Goleta

This 4-acre neighborhood park, located in Old Town in the City of Goleta, features a multi-purpose field, playground, basketball court, handball court, ping-pong, bocce ball, pickleball, walking paths, fitness nodes, shaded picnic space, a skateboard plaza and splash pad to be installed in a future phase. Fuscoe provided full civil engineering design services, including site utilities, erosion control, precise grading and a stormwater pollution prevention plan. Water quality design and water infiltrations BMPs were produced, including gravel galleries, trenches, permeable paving and FEMA flood mitigation design.

POINSETTIA COMMUNITY PARK
Carlsbad, CA | Schmidt Design Group/City of Carlsbad

Fuscoe provided civil engineering design and surveying services for improvements to this 42-acre community park. The project included the addition of a multi-use sports arena, playgrounds, pickleball courts and a dog park. The Fuscoe team provided field surveying to supplement topographic data for delivery of a 20-scale digital base map. Engineering tasks included converting a concept Master Plan to schematic design, design development, and construction documents through final plan check. Permeable surfacing was utilized to reduce the requirements for stormwater BMPs and biofiltration basins were also integrated into the landscape design.
