Serenade on 43rd

Wakeland Housing & Development Corporation

Serenade on 43rd is a thoughtfully integrated affordable supportive housing community located in City Heights.

Developed by Wakeland Housing & Development Corporation, the project included the construction of two new buildings – one residential and one for community use. Two existing adjacent multifamily buildings were also renovated, leading to the formation of one cohesive and connected community. Fuscoe provided design and construction phase services, working closely with DAHLIN Architecture, to align engineering solutions with the overall vision for the development. The project required ministerial approval of a public improvement plan and right-of-way permit, along with a building permit from the City of San Diego. Our team was instrumental in navigating engineering documents through the City’s Permit Now process and securing right-of-way approvals in time to meet a critical construction loan closing deadline. As with all affordable housing developments, maintaining schedule and budget was critical. Through proactive coordination and full circle thinking©, our team supported the developer and design partners in delivering the project efficiently while controlling costs and meeting key completion milestones.
