Supportive affordability packaged in six-stories at The Iris in West LA

The Iris is a 6-story affordable and supportive housing community in West Los Angeles, offering 61 apartments, including 34 for formerly unhoused individuals. Designed by BSB Architects, The Iris amenities include a large community room with kitchen, a media area, laundry room, rooftop deck with lounge area and community garden beds. Management and supportive services are located on-site for the formerly unhoused residents.

Fuscoe delivered full civil engineering services for this tight infill site. A key challenge was the absence of a public storm drain on the site. Fuscoe designed SUSMP planters to help meet the LID requirements for stormwater runoff. Our work included supplemental topography, ALTA survey, demolition planning, grading and drainage, sewer and water design, and offsite street improvements.
